Our Story

Brandon Yang

My martial arts journey began in early childhood with my father, a certified instructor under the lineage of Sifu Mark Stewart and Sifu Tommy Carruthers, who were both students of Sifu Ted Wong (Bruce Lee's last student). At a young age, he instilled in me the fluid, non-classical philosophy of Jeet Kune Do (JKD). This early immersion in Bruce Lee’s art of 'intercepting fist' became my internal compass.

At 13 years old, I went on to learn Taekwondo, as my dad wanted me to improve in my kicking techniques; I eventually fell in love with the sport as I was really intrigued by the way the way the koreans threw their spinning kicks.

Eventually I competed in the sport. However, the first fight that I ever had resulted in a lost by disqualification, which led me down a path of intense determination to win Gold.

In 2018, during my polytechnic days, I had the opportunity to fight in the National Championship Tournament in which I managed to clinch the Gold Medal, looking back it was actually one of my proudest moments  of my life.

That year was also the year that I had the honor of serving as the Taekwondo team captain for the school as well as achieving my black belt in Taekwondo,

My journey in Taekwondo came to an end when I realise my knees don't work like they used to and participating in a kicking sport might result in more serious injuries down the road. It was then which I decided to also return to my roots, embarking on a deep, personal research dive into JKD. This was a process of perfecting techniques and self-discovery, allowing the art to shape my identity as a martial artist.

My commitment to discipline was further tested when I enlisted in the army, joining the elite Commandos formation. I successfully graduated from airborne school as a paratrooper and was also trained as a combat medic, specializing in treating casualties in the field. After completing my service, I felt compelled to test my skills on the mats again. I jumped into a competitive kickboxing tournament, earning a bronze medal, which was a valuable experience. However, a serious leg injury in 2024 forced a strategic pivot, leading me to focus entirely on the cerebral and technical world of boxing.

Junfightlab was born in early 2025 with a desire to pass on a legacy. Our initial goal was to provide realistic self-defense boxing programs, but that vision quickly expanded to encompass comprehensive fitness, weight loss, and even competitive training. Coming from a background where I constantly sought to test myself, I understand the competitive drive and cater programs specifically for those who want to enter the ring.

What truly sets us apart is our DNA: Junfightlab is the only school in Singapore to actively infuse Jeet Kune Do (JKD) principles into our boxing programmes. JKD remains my bread and butter, and integrating it gives our students a distinct, added advantage, teaching them to move and react with non-telegraphic efficiency.

We believe that commitment should be your only barrier, not travel time. That’s why we bring martial arts to your doorstep. Whether you're a child, teen, or adult, and whether your goal is self-protection, fitness, or competition, our training programs are tailored to fit your exact needs. All we ask is that you commit to the training and give us your all—that’s how we produce results.
